Duo return for Town's historic season Duo return for Town's historic season

Sam Fitzgerald and Dylan Stringer-Moth have both agreed to remain as Wythenshawe Town players for the coming season.

Fitzgerald and Stringer-Moth joined the club at the end of last season following the arrival of James Kinsey and Dan Whitehead. The pair both featured in the dramatic 3-2 victory over Whaley Bridge near the conclusion of the 2017/18 campaign, where a stunning Ashley Leather brace and a last minute Will Shawcross header gained a vital 3 points for Town.
"After spending two years playing out in Australia, I got home and wanted to get back playing straight away instead of waiting for the new season" commented Midfielder Fitzgerald. "Kins [Manager James Kinsey] and Dan [Whiteside] made me aware of their move to Wythenshawe, along with the plans the club has for the future."
"As soon as I entered the club's gates I could see the facilities matched the manager and Chairman's ambition. I've not seen many facilities like it in the Evo Stick, never mind the North West Counties so that proved straight away we're heading in the right direction."
The management team have added a strong character to the dressing room, which was evident by their decision to make Fitzgerald Captain I'm the crucial Whaley Bridge tie. While Sean Sherwood will skipper the team this season, having leaders like the former Oldham Midfielder in the dressing room will be key to success in this historic season for Town.
Dylan Stringer-Moth is another player who has spent time abroad, with BK Sport of Sweden. The Attacking Midfielder has also played for clubs such as Liverpool, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Ashton United, New Mills and Prestwich Heys.
"Since I came with the managers at the back end of last season I've been enjoying my football again" said Stringer-Moth when discussing his spell at the club last term. "I'm looking forward to being part of an exciting time for this club and can't wait for the season to start!"
The 22-year-old Mancunian's pedigree cannot be doubted, leaving the Town faithful excited to see him, Fitzgerald and the new additions to the squad in pre-season action, which begins on Saturday 14th July with a 1:30pm Kick Off against Warrington Town at Ericstan Park.
The squad for the groundbreaking season ahead is starting to come together and the anticipation is palpable around the club.
"I'm looking forward to winning games with a top set of lads and finally having a purpose to play again" Fitzgerald added. "I can't wait to get started."
