Wythenshawe Town’s season ended in a 1-0 defeat on the road at Eagle Sport.

The game started an end to end affair with Town having a glorious opportunity to take the lead on 3 minutes after Isaac Graham made a terrific interception he played the ball to Dan King who released winger Ash Leather down the left but nobody could get on the end of his cross.

Just moments later and Eagle went on the attack and Ed Burtham played Ged Mcallister I’m behind the Town defence but his effort from inside the area was well saved by Ben Daniels.

Ash Leather was in the thick of the action again, after he kept a ball in play and combined with midfielder Will Shawcross but he saw his effort from close range go over Brad White’s crossbar.

Both teams were going in search of the games opening goal and the best chance of the half fell to Town striker Ryan Grier after he was picked out by Dylan Moth, but Grier’s effort was well saved by White from close range.

Halftime: Eagle Sports 0-0 Wythenshawe Town

The second half started the way the first finished with both teams trying to establish control on the game and break the deadlock.

Town had a couple of glorious opportunities to take the lead early on in the half. First, after a goalmouth scramble the ball fell to Dan King but his effort from inside the penalty area went over the bar, and then after a good run from Ash Leather down the wing his ball across goal was met by Will Shawcross but his goalbound effort was well kept out by Brad White.

Town kept the pressure on and with an hour on the clock the forced White into another save. This time it was centre-half Kyle McGovern who picked up the ball and struck an effort from range only for the Eagle goalkeeper White to deny him with his legs!

With the game looking like it was going to end in a draw, a ball from just inside the Wythenshawe half split the defence and substitute Josh Purcell ran into the loose ball and despite the best efforts of Ben Daniels and Jake Gregory Purcell slotted home to ensure all the points were staying in Warrington.
