Wythenshawe Town travel to Spinghead on Tuesday 17th July for a 7:15pm Kick-Off. Unbeaten so far in pre-season, this trip to Gorton will provide a different test for the first team squad as the start of the 2018/19 season draws closer.
Last season, Springhead finished 4th in the Manchester Football League Premier Division, behind fellow North West Counties new boys Avro, our neighbours Wythenshawe Amateurs and the former club of our Manager James Kinsey and his Assistant Dan Whiteside, East Manchester. This league position was helped by Springhead's strong finish to the season, which included a 6-2 victory against Monton and a 4-1 triumph over Champions Avro.
The Oldham club have 13 teams ranging from a soccer academy for 5 year olds through to a Veterans team and will be looking to push on and follow in the footsteps of the many Manchester Football League clubs that are rising up the Non-League pyramid.
With a couple of games under the belt in pre-season, this fixture will give Town an opportunity to further their preparations for the club’s first season in the Hallmark Security League and the Oldham outfit are sure to prove themselves a tough opposition for any side.
