Scott Spencer signs for Town
Siblings unite as Scott Spencer Joins his brother Grant in the Wythenshawe Town set up.
Spencer has been involved at the top end of non-league football, netting regularly for the likes of Hyde United and Stockport County.
The frontman has also been involved in the English football league, having a seven-year spell at Oldham in his youth before being shipped to the blue side of the river Mersey, where he was predominantly on loan stints at the likes of Macclesfield and Rochdale.
Spencer revealed the impact that his brother had on him joining forces after an extended period of time being out of 11-a-side action following his departure from Stalybridge Celtic.
“My brother (Grant Spencer) and one of my best friends are here and I wanted to get back playing. Grant speaks highly of it and I’m looking forward to the season getting started now.
“Pre-season has been really good so far, I’m really enjoying it. Obviously, it’s a bit tough having been out for a while but I’m looking forward to being back in shape. I’m seeing differences every week now.”
“Settling in has been easy enough. I’ve been around long enough and I know a few of the lads. I’m just buzzing to be back in a changing room.”
Manager James Kinsey is full of adulation for the striker and is not fazed by his lack of game time.
“Grant gave me a call and said Scott wanted to get back playing. He’s not stopped playing six a side since he left Stalybridge Celtic so his touch is still as sharp as ever. He’s in good shape and I’ve seen a big difference in him since I saw him at the end of last season.
“He’s a natural goal scorer who’s not had too bad of a career. You know you’re getting more than a goal scorer with Scott. He is brilliant in the changing room.”
The 6th of July is looming ominously close for the beginning of pre-season which spells the perfect time for Spencer to find his scoring touch.
