Town look strong!

A superb Jack Timmons performance helped Wythenshawe beat Lower Breck 3-1 in a comfortable pre-season encounter.

Just after half an hour, the central midfielder lofted a pass from Town’s own half for the rapid Matty Bryan who calmly converted his one-on-one chance.

And then with 15 minutes to the end, Timmons went from creating to scoring in spectacular style.

He collected the ball just inside Lower Breck’s half and instantly made a bursting forward run before striking a low but powerful shot from 25 yards.

This doubled Town’s advantage but just two minutes later the lead was halved after a terrific cross was put into the box for Jamie Menagh to latch onto the end of it.

But this didn’t faze Town who remained fully in control and scored a third in the final minute with another assist for Timmons.

His corner was delivered to the near post for a trialist to score with an impressive volley to cap off a great afternoon for Wythenshawe.

And with Town now looking this sharp ahead of the season, James Kinsey’s men look like a force to be reckon with in what should be a special campaign!

What the manager had to say

James Kinsey: “We got the full ninety minute performance that we were asking for that’s for sure. The only real disappointment is that we didn’t take more of our chances. Another three goals though so we’re happy in that respect.

“We just can’t wait for the season to start now – the lads are itching for it. It’s been frustrating that the Isle of Man game has been postponed so we will begin at New Mills. We just have to maintain the levels we are at now.”
