Ericstan Park will host League 2 outfit Oldham Athletic XI in Town’s penultimate pre-season friendly.
Four days after Wythenshawe Town’s solid 3-1 victory over Lower Breck FC, and 8 days after the 5-2 win over of Heyside FC, Town welcome an Oldham Athletic XI who will surely provide a stern test.
Although this Oldham side may not feature the likes of Cameron Borthwick-Jackson or Carl Piergianni, Town manager, James Kinsey, still believes tomorrow night’s opponents will pose a challenge for the blues:
“It will be a tough test. No matter what side they put out, they will have high fitness levels and it will offer another kind of test for us. They will have their shape down to a tee so we will have to be switched on in order to break them down”.
Town have really developed a taste for goals during pre-season, but Kinsey insists that consistency is the key going into the new season:
“We now have two games left before the season starts. Saturday was a great performance but we have to maintain those levels now. We are scoring for fun and we need to keep up the energy to keep the goals coming”.
Town also possess a plethora of attacking options, with the likes of Ste Yarwood and Justin Pickering contributing from midfield. Here’s what the former had to say regarding tomorrows match:
“I can see it being a good game they will try to play football and so will we, so it should be a decent game
“I think we can hurt them with the pace we have upfront with Matty and also on the wings with Jordan and judda if they play”.
Justin’s inclusion amongst the goals is a combination of his work in training and learning from the best:
“I've been watching Matty Bryan and getting tips off him cause that lad can finish. I do need to bring more goals to my game though so playing alongside the likes of Matty and Yarwood, the assist king, will get my goal tally up.
“It'll be a tough game, they will be well drilled side but a game we are confident in winning”, Justin Added.
Preseason hasn’t been the easiest for Yarwood, but he’s racing to be fully fit for the upcoming season:
“Pre-season has been a bit stop start for me with injuries but I seem to be getting ok now but all the rest of the lads look fit and sharp and we just want the games to get started”
Tomorrow’s match will be free entry with a maximum capacity of 300, so be sure to arrive in good time because you won’t want to miss this one.
