Dean Warburton signs for Town

Midfield acquisitions have tended to be the order of the day as more ammunition is added to Kinsey and Whiteside’s Wythenshawe arsenal, in the shape of Dean Warburton.

The central midfielder poses a tantalising prospect as he arrives with vast experience to be intermingled with the youthful exuberance that Town have to offer, giving the managerial team the best possible selection headache.

The former Congleton man believes in the long-term goal of the club and is willing to do all he can to aid his local team to achieve the lofty targets set out in pre-season.

“I decided to join after meeting with Kinsey and Dan. The club has big ambitions and is on my doorstep as I am from Wythenshawe.

“Pre-season has been good and I can’t wait for the season to start now. There’s a real buzz about the place. The main aim is to win the league. As a minimum gain promotion but I think with the squad we’ve got we have to be looking to try and top the table.”

Manager James Kinsey revealed his eagerness to sign Warburton and has been all too keen to sing his praises.

“We met with Warby as soon as the season had finished. He’s a Wythenshawe lad and I think that added to the attraction of bringing him in.

“Technically, I don’t think there’s many better than him at this level. He has a physical side to his game too which is hard to find in a lot of players like him. He scores goals and can definitely create them. He is a massive coup.”

Very often a concern with signing a hoard of new players in one window is the daunting task of getting everyone to gel together in time for the season but the managerial pair are no strangers to wholesale changes in the dressing room.

Only time will tell if the well-oiled machine can run like clockwork- for now we wait with baited breath.
