Both teams had to settle for a point a piece as Wythenshawe and Rylands drew 1-1 at Ericstan Park.
The first half started with the hosts on the front foot, and they had a terrific opportunity to take the lead on six minutes when David Moreno beat his marker he ran into the Rylands penalty area but goalkeeper Connor Yarwood made a good save down low to deny the Wythenshawe midfielder.
After the opening opportunity of the game neither side created anything clear cut until the just before the half hour mark when a Rylands corner was headed away by Lee Hargreaves, it fell to Dan Sisson who was unmarked in the area but he fired wide of Kelsey Robinsons’ goal.
From here the visitors grew in confidence and began to create opportunities, and on 31 minutes Ben Latham saw his effort from 25 yards go just over the top of the Wythenshawe Town goal, but just 3 minutes later the visitors took the lead after a corner was cleared to the edge of the area a shot came in which Kelsey Robinson could only parry into the path of Jimmy Sinker who passed across the goal and Dave France flicked home from close range.
Just before the interval the visitors could have doubled their lead when a corner from Bruno Costa was hit to the near post and Dave France tried an overhead kick which went just over Robinsons’ goal.
Halftime: Wythenshawe Town 0-1 Rylands
After the break, Wythenshawe started the better team and midfielder Remi Williams had a great opportunity to draw the hosts level when Ash leather won a free kick 30 yards from goal, but Williams saw his direct effort go just wide of the upright.
On the hour mark Rylands striker Przemek Staniszewski found himself clean through on goal after Wythenshawe’s Richard Gresty played a ball forward but the Rylands defence cleared the ball back up field and over the top of the hosts back four but Staniszewski’s effort from just outside the area was well saved by Robinson.
Just eight minutes later and Staniszewski found himself clean through again this time when Wythenshawe’s Dan King played a heavy back pass over the top of captain Richard Gresty and Number 9 ran onto the loose ball but his effort across goal was well saved by Kelsey Robinson in the hosts goal.
Heading into the last twenty minutes of the game Wythenshawe began to find gaps in the Rylands defence and on 74 minutes Rico Stewart put the Rylands defence under pressure and blocked an attempted clearance on the edge of the area and substitute Josh Dunn ran onto the loose ball but his effort from close range was well saved by Connor Yarwood.
Nine minutes later Wythenshawe did draw level when a ball was played into the Rylands area it fell to midfielder Rico Stewart who slammed home from 8 yards giving Yarwood no chance and the hosts thought they had snatched a winner two minutes from time after Rico Stewart played the ball wide to David Moreno he beat his marker and played the ball across the front of goal to the unmarked Josh Dunn but his first effort from six yards out was kept out by Connor Yarwood but he could only push it back into the path of Dunn who put the ball into the back of the net, only for the linesman to raise his flag and give offside against the Wythenshawe striker.
